Candice Jacobs has been an essential component of the artist-led scene in Nottingham for the past 20 years.

Having recently returned to the city after living and working in London, she set up and established OTOKA, her nomadic & online studio taking over vacant city centre shop spaces as her studio, providing opportunities to curate & host both irl and online exhibitions, events, podcasts and residencies as well as provide studio space for local artists.

Candice has been using online space as exhibition space for the past 13 years, launching www.sleepingupright.com in 2012 at Nottingham Contemporary with the work of Turner Prize winner Jesse Darling and more recently designing and building www.transference.tv which is integrated into Pixel Elements a module that she writes and delivers for MA Contemporary Photography, Philosophies and Practices at Central Saint Martins.

She represented the East Midlands at the 56th Venice Biennale and worked with 50 artists from the region to develop downloadable screensavers for a major online project also showcased at the event.

She co-founded and Directed One Thoresby Street - www.onethoresbystreet.org - a collective of 2 public galleries, 26 studios and production facilities in Nottingham back in 2008 supporting the professional careers of over 400 artists over the course of 15 yrs.
